I needed a cheap back up for my battery. And this one fit the bill. I knew it was a bit of a gamble not buying the canon but for a back up battery in those odd occasions when you don't have time to wait while your battery recharges you are good to go. Didn't get 5 stars just because the camera cannot communicate with the batery thus you can't see how much power is remaining in the battery. But again, this is not really a big deal as the battery is just a back up, and for the price you can't beat it.

The order arrived in a speedy 10 days during the holidays. The lens fit onto a Kodak Z612 camera extension tube (49-to-52mm). A case is also provided with the four lenses. The lens set may have been on sale at .19. Handling and shipping was .60! I have not fully utilized the lens set yet but it seems to be of good optical quality and the price seemed right...especially since the +10 lens is also included. You do receive four lens: +1,+2,+4, and +10. I'm looking for bugs and hummingbirds to photograph.

In the past, I have applied various stick-on adhesive-backed plastic film screen protectors to the screens of my Canon 30D and 40D, as well as using both custom pre-cut and cut-it-yourself plastic films for the screens on my cell phones and iPods. If the film protector gets scuffed or scratched on my cell phone or iPod, as it always seems to happen eventually, I just wait awhile and let the scratches and distortions build up on the film before pulling it off and replacing it with a new film. However, having scratches and scuffs accumulate on the film protector that covers the screen of a digital camera becomes a far more significant annoyance when I am trying to carefully review photos. Even a few scratch marks on a DSLR screen protector becomes a nuisance when I am trying to review photos on my camera. And so I went ahead and bought these awesome GGS optical glass screen protectors for my 30D, 40D, and 7D main LCD monitor screens. I still use the small film section of the Lexerd - Canon EOS 7D TrueVue Crystal Clear Digital Camera Screen Protector to protect my top LCD panel on all three DSLRs.

Unlike the flimsy plastic films, this screen protector is actually made of a very rigid optical glass material that is 0.5mm thick. Lining the outer perimeter of one side of this very thin sheet of glass is a precisely-fitted 3M double-sided adhesive tape. The precision fit of this adhesive that lines the outer border of the glass is important because if there is not a totally good seal all around this glass sheet, it can allow dust particles to get between the LCD monitor and the screen protector. But upon close inspection, I think that my screen protector has a consistent seal around its entire border. To mount this screen protector, first, you check that the LCD monitor is totally clean. Then you peel off a plastic backing to expose the adhesive, carefully align this screen protector over the 7D's LCD monitor, and press it into place on top of the LCD monitor. Unlike using plastic films, you do not have to deal with possible bubbles or bending/warping happening underneath the screen protector. The adhesive that is used to mount the screen protector holds it in place firmly, yet if you need to remove or just re-position this glass screen, you can slide a thin razor blade or box cutter blade underneath the adhesive to slowly and carefully lift it off the LCD monitor. This glass sheet does not seem to attract fingerprints and smudges the way most plastic films that I have used tend to do. And, most importantly, if I rake my fingernails or even a house key across this glass, I do not leave any marks or scratches on it. Try that on any plastic film! This is the perfect compliment to my 7D's very nice 920000-dot 3-inch LCD monitor. The fit and sizing of the glass is also very precise, going out to all the edges of the LCD monitor. Because this glass is 0.5mm thick however, it does stick out more than if you had applied one of the plastic film protectors. You can actually feel the edge of the glass protector as it sits on top of the LCD monitor, and so that part of the camera's back surface will not be flush. But that is inconsequential to me as I love the clarity of this protector and how resistant to scratches, smudges, and fingerprints it is. Well worth the money for some added protection.

With new features like Canon's EOS Integrated Cleaning System, Live View Function, a more powerful DIGIC III Image Processor, plus a 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 3.0-inch LCD monitor and more, the EOS 40D elevates digital photography to new heights, enhancing the shooting experience, and delivering images one could only expect from a Canon.

There are a significant number of technical reviews on this camera so I'll be brief. This is an excellent camera. Only upgrade that it lacks & I wish it had is in camera lens correction. The camera is very fast. It easily takes 6+ frames a second. Auto focus is very fast also, even in less than perfect light. You'll be able to use for virtually all sporting events. But it also has good depth & coloration for landscapes, portraits, etc. It does only have a 12 bit color processing system but color is very good. AND don't let the ONLY 10 megapixel issue throw you. Although 10mp may seem light compared to the newer models, I believe that is one of the reasons the camera is so good at processing light. The pixels are less compressed on the sensor and really seem to pick up light much better than some of the newer camera's. And you will find that the 10mp is more than you'll need even if you like to crop your photo's several times or blow them up large enough to frame & hang on the wall.

AND the biggest plus? This camera is a bargain right now. With the new 7D & 50D out, people are unloading this model very quickly. If you want a camera to use for several years, try this one & take the money you'll save and buy a couple of very good PRIME lens. You'll get amazing results out of even marginal camera's if you use good lens. And if you match up a couple of good lens (TRY USING PRIMES, not telephoto's! Save the telephoto's for sporting events, etc!) to this camera you'll be very, very happy with the results. Fyi, I would give this camera 4.5-4.75 stars if I could. I would give it 5 if it had in camera correction (for some lens aberrations) & a 14 bit color processor. Good shooting!

As with any macros I've worked with, you pretty much have to work in manual focus, and the higher the count on the filters used, the shorter the depth of field, but that's to be expected.

They say approx 150 shots per battery load, but I was up to 220 and it was still working fine. Haven't tested beyond that, but I'll be sure to on my next set. With the price of batteries eating into my pocket on other devices, this was a huge bonus.

I just purchased this flash from Amazon and it definitely has more power and versatility (angle-wise) than my Rebel XS built-in flash. However, there is not a lot of info out there about it on the Internet, so I wanted to clear some stuff up. The Canon recognizes this as an E-TTL 2 flash, which is good, and the metering and whatnot appears to work just fine with the flash. When the camera is adjusting it automatically, it doesn't overpower the photo, etc. (I am a newbie to digital SLR so that is critical for me.) However, two important things to note are 1. if you are using the flash on an angle (not straight forward) the camera does not know that and doesn't compensate for the different level needed, so you will have to adjust the camera manually. 2. While this is E-TTL 2 compatible, that does not mean you can control the flash settings from the camera like a normal Speedlite. Speedlites have an LCD and controls on the back for flash settings. This Targus TG-DL80C did not, so I thought, hey, maybe the camera will do it, and I will get the functionality of the display for free! Well, that is unfortunately not the case, and there is no real way to adjust the flash manually. Still, it's reasonably usable and as I learn more about photography I think I will do just fine with it. Maybe it's not the greatest for beginners but it will impel me to learn more about photography, so overall, not a bad purchase for the far lower price, and frankly, the Speedlites (even used) are pretty expensive if you decide photography is not going to be your hobby.

It has a large depth of field that offers the photographer greater freedom of expression.By using a new technology and optical design, this lens satisfies the needs of digital photography. Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for effective compensation of color aberration, which is a common problem with wide-angle lenses. Four aspherical lenses, one molded glass type and three hybrid aspherical types, offer excellent correction for distortion as well as all types of aberration. The design concept of this lens is especially suitable for the characteristics of Digital SLR Cameras. New coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem of digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance. This lens has excellent correction for "light-fall-off", which is a common problem of large aperture lenses.The design ensures sufficient illumination of the corners of the image.It is capable of taking pictures with a minimum focusing distance of 38cm (15.0in) at all focal lengths. It is very effective for close-up photography. I received my lens about 1 month ago and the first thing I did was test the focus. My version had a slight front focus problem so I sent it to Sigma for calibration. After about 2 weeks I got the lens back and focus is now spot on with my Canon 40D.

Performance:
Sharpness: Slightly soft at 2.8 but very sharp at 5.4. At 5.4 it's very sharp from corner to corner across the focal range. I would compare the sharpness to that of the Canon 50mm 1.4 prime when below 2.0 apertures. The 50mm prime at 2.8 is clearly sharper.
Contrast: Nice, similar to a Canon 50mm 1.4 prime that I tried out in comparison.
Focus: Quick and accurate. Noise is not loud but it's not USM or HSM quiet. I would say that focus speed and noise was on par with the 50.
Build: Study and robust. It's not all metal or L quality but it's a well built, formidable lens.
Bokah: Much better than the Canon 50mm 1.8 prime.

For the price you can't beat the performance of this zoom lens, definitely much better than any of the kit lens you'd get with the camera body and clearly a step up from the kit lens. It's not the nirvana for zooms around this range but to get that you'll spend 4X more than this. I doubt you will find a better zoom around in this range at this price. People can complain about focus quality control but it is correctable and it's easier to address with Sigma directly than playing the odds on a replacement.

The lens cap to my Olympus camera NEVER stays put. Just bumping it makes it pop off. It is so bad that I have lost 2 lens caps completely but now it when it gets bumped its still attached to the camera. I will never own a camera with lens caps without one of these again. The sticky part isn't necessarily that strong of a bond but nothing a little glue won't fix but still well worth it. This is a bargain compared to a scratch on one of my lenses!

If I had the flash on before the receiver was powered on the flash did fire every time. Leave the flash off while powering on the receiver to avoid seeing white spots.

Once the receiver is on it works perfectly. I purchased a second receiver and it did not work initially. I discovered the metal on the battery slot was not making contact. I bent the contact and the receiver worked perfectly.

The price is amazing for the little issues. If you don't want to spend big bucks you have to deal with the little issues.

Price is five stars!!!! Quality is four stars because most people wouldn't have known to check the contacts.

I am going to buy another. It is a no brainer for the price.

The Giottos Q.Ball Air Blower is very powerful and easy to use cleaning system. The super air stream blows off dust particles, even those attracted by static electricity. The Q.Ball is 5.5" inches long with a 2" long nozzle which tilts 60 degrees for easy cleaning.
